Service

Bute Advice Centre aims to support communities across Bute & Cowal, fighting poverty and social exclusion by the provision of impartial, confidential advice and assistance with regard to:

  • Housing Advice – Homelessness, eviction, housing grants, arrears and tenancy issues
  • Welfare Benefits Advice – Benefits checks, form filling and representation at Tribunal Appeals
  • Utilities Advice – Debt management, liaising with utility providers, changing suppliers, accessing grants and alleviation of fuel poverty advice
  • Debt Management Provision – Voluntary payment arrangements, moratoriums, protected trust deeds, bankruptcy, DAS and court representation
  • Consumer Advice – Goods/ services and court representation
  • Employment Advice – Rights and responsibilities
  • Social Issues Advice – Immigration and local matters of concern

Opening Hours

Bute

Bute Advice Centre Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm, Friday 10am - 5pm.  We close for lunch between 12.45 and 13.45.

 

Cowal

Dolphin Hall, ACHA Offices Monday - Thursday 9am – 5pm.  We close for lunch between 12.30 and 13.30.

Quality Standards

Bute
Advice Centre strives to offer the most holistic service for their clients, with staff specialising in particular areas.

Qualifications specific to advice work, held by members of staff include SVQ modules at basic degree level in Advice and Guidance, HNC level in Welfare Rights & Money Advice, Homepoint trained in Housing, DAS approval in Debt Advice alongside a range of training primarily provided by Child Poverty Action Group, Money
Advice Scotland & Legal Services Agency.

 

Through our work with ALIenergy two members of staff are also City & Guilds qualified to provide Energy Advice.
