Microsoft Internet Explorer

Increasing text size

On the bottom right of the Internet Explorer screen, click the arrow next to the Change Zoom Level button. To go to a predefined zoom level, click the percentage of enlargement or reduction you want.

To specify a custom level, click Custom. In the Percentage zoom box, type a zoom value, and then click OK.

Changing the text font

  • Select Internet Options form the Tools menu (on older versions of Internet Explorer Options may be in the View menu).
  • Press the Accessibility button.
  • Tick the box next to Ignore font styles specified on web pages.
  • Press OK.
  • Press the Fonts button.
  • Choose your font from the drop-down menu under Web page font.
  • Press OK.

Changing the text colour or the background colour

  • Select the Internet Options from the Tools menu (on older versions of Internet Explorer Options may be in the View menu).
  • Press the Accessibility button.
  • Tick the box next to Ignore font styles specified on web pages.
  • Press OK.
  • Press the Colours box.
  • Untick the boxs for Use Windows colours.
  • To change the colour of the text, press the button to the right of Text, choose your colour from the palette and press Ok.
  • To change the colour of the background, press the button to the right of Background, choose your colour from the palette and press OK.
  • Press OK.

Removing the images

  • Select the Internet Options from the Tools menu (on older versions of Internet Explorer Options may be in the View menu).
  • Select the Advanced tab at the top right corner of the box.
  • Scroll down to the Multimedia heading.
  • Untick the box next to Show pictures.
  • Press OK.

Mozilla Firefox and Netscape Navigator

Increasing the text size

  • To zoom in, increasing the size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing +.
  • To zoom out, decreasing the size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing -.
  • To reset size back to normal, press and hold Ctrl while pressing 0.

Changing the text font

  • Select Options from the Tools menu (on older versions you may have to select Preferences from the Edit menu).
  • Press the Fonts & Colours button in the General options (on over versions you may have to select Fonts from the Appearance category).
  • Tick the box for Always use my fonts (on older versions you may have to untick the box for Allow documents to use other fonts).
  • From the Proportial box select whether you want to use a Serif or Sans Serif font. (Sans serif is normally clearer).
  • Select the front from the Serif or Sans Serif box you want to use.

Changing the text colour or the background colour

  • Select Options from the Tools menu (on older versions you may have to select Preferences from the Edit menu).
  • Press the Fonts & Colours button in the General options (on over versions you may have to select Fonts from the Appearance category).
  • Tick the box for Always use my colours (on older versions you may have to tick the box for Use my chosen colours ...).
  • To change the colour of the text, press the button to the right of Text, choose your colour from the palette.
  • To change the colour of the background, press the button to the right of Background, choose your colour from the palette.
  • Press OK.

Removing the images

  • Select Options from the Tools menu (on older versions you may have to select Preferences from the Edit menu).
  • Select Web feature (on older version you may have to select Advanced).
  • Untick the box next to Load images (on older versions load images may be called Automatically load images).
  • Press OK.

Opera

Increasing text size

Opera's zoom feature is visually accessible on the progress bar as a list of increments from 20% to 1000%. Zooming with the keyboard offers the same range, but also includes all the stepped increments in between.
  • With the keyboard, there are 5 keys for quickly zooming a document. They are: 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0.
  • zoom using 10% increments: zoom in 0, zoom out 9 (or use + and - on your number pad) zoom using 100% increments: zoom in 8, zoom out 7.
  • snap page back to 100% (normal) 6, (or use * on your number pad).

Changing the text font

  • Select Preferences from the File menu.
  • Select Page style.
  • Press Configure modes button.
  • Under Author mode tick My fonts and colours and untick Page fonts and colours.
  • Press OK.
  • Selects Fonts.
  • Select Normal from the list and press Choose.
  • Choose the font of your choice and press OK.
  • You might also like to change the font for headings 1 to 4 as well.
  • Press OK

Changing the text colour or the background colour

  • Select Page style.
  • Press the button to the right of Background colour, choose your colour from the palette and press OK.
  • Press OK.

  • Select Preferences from the File menu.
  • Select Multimedia.
  • Select Show no images from the Images drop-down.
  • Press OK.
